Romblon Water District

Romblon Water District was established on June 23, 1978 by virtue of Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 443. This resolution gave the water district full control and administration of the water system from the Municipal Government in accordance with P.D. 198 better known as the “Local Water Utilities Act of 1973” as amended by P.D. Nos. 768 and 1479.
 
On October 4, 1978, Local Water Utilities Administration awarded the Conditional Certificate of Conformance (CCC) no. 064 which enabled it to operate under standard specifications. It is categorized as a small water district with active residential, government and commercial service connections as of March 31, 2015. The present service area of the district covers area which is divided into six (6) zones within the town of Romblon, Romblon. These areas composed of Eight (8) Barangay namely: Bagacay, Brgy. 1, 2, 3, 4, Capaclan & Cajimos & Lonos. The RWD has 1,978 active and 202 inactive water service connections as of March 31, 2015.
 
The RWD has seven (7) pumping stations located at Brgy. Cajimos, Interior Agbuyog Brgy. Capaclan, Asturias, Capaclan, Mingoa lot, Capaclan & Brgy.Lonos.
 
Recently, the RWD has constructed new office and is located at Brgy. Bagacay, Romblon, Romblon. The construction of ground floor took almost a year but still on progress for the 2nd floor area of the office Building.
 
Romblon Water District has Fourteen (14) employees on a regular and contractual basis and is headed by the General Manager, Edna P. Martos. Eleven (11) employees are regular and Three (3) are Job order contract employees which are renewed every 2 & half months of service.
